Tumut is a picturesque hub in the western foothills of the Snowy Mountains. Tumut is often referred to as the 'gateway to the snowy' Snowy Mountains Scheme. Tumut is just over a 4-hr drive from Sydney and 2hr 15min drive from Canberra. You can also fly into Wagga Wagga Airport and hire a car for the 90min drive.

Tumut has an abundance of natural wonders, including Fly fishing, canoeing and swimming. If you enjoy hiking there is The Hume and Hovell Track, a hiking trail which runs for 426km between Yass and Albury and now crosses the Snowy Mountains Highway 11kms southeast of town. Also check out the Clark Gorge Walking Track to Cave Creek Falls. Mountain bike enthusiasts can head to the Tumut Mountain Bike Park as a good starting point, with terrain for all levels. Autumn is particularly spectacular, with the leaves lining the river turning from green to gold. Be sure to check out the Labyrinth for Peace memorial along the way, located at Pioneer park.
