The South Burnett is Queensland's largest wine-growing region. It's located on top of Australia's Great Dividing Range just two hours drive north-west of Brisbane, Australia, and in addition to wine it's also home to two of Queensland's biggest inland waterways (Lake Boondooma and the Bjelke-Petersen Dam) and the world famous Jurassic-era Bunya Mountains.
Murgon is a very relaxed, friendly country town that has all the amenities of a much larger centre. The nearby winery areas of Redgate and Moffatdale are home to a numerous commercial wineries and a number of modern B&Bs and farmstays. The area around Murgon is largely rolling grassland grazing country interspersed with small stands of eucalypt forests and it is a thriving centre of the South Burnett's cattle and pork industries.
Kingaroy has the most cosmopolitan feel of any South Burnett township but it's still a relaxed, friendly and informal country town at heart. Traditionally, Kingaroy was the centre of Australia's peanut and navy bean industries. Kingaroy has a vibrant sporting, cultural and social life.
