Amidst a stunning coastline of rocky headlands and neighbouring the banks of the Hastings River estuary is the vibrant and unspoilt town of Port Macquarie. Offering a distinctive mix of heritage buildings, modern hotels and apartments, diverse dining, shopping and entertainment venues, Port Macquarie has much to offer.

Getting back to nature at Port Macquarie is easy. At Kooloonbung Creek Nature Park, also home to the town's historic cemetery, walking tracks and boardwalks wind through 52 hectares of natural bushland. At Sea Acres National Park, a 1.3km-accessible elevated rainforest boardwalk allows you to explore one of the largest, least disturbed and most diverse coastal rainforests in NSW.

Vibrant Port Macquarie is surrounded by beautiful waterways - the Hastings River, canals, creeks, bays and the Pacific Ocean. The city also has a five-star collection of golden-sand beaches stretching from Port Macquarie Beach to Town Beach and north along the 16-km swathe of North Beach.

A temperate climate, parks, gardens and walking trails make it a great place to enjoy walks. The 9-km Coastal Walk, from the breakwall on Town Green to Lighthouse Beach, is a great way to uncover this pretty coastal city. Another way is on the water, on a cruise to see dolphins - or whales during the annual whale-watching season from May to November. Cross the Hastings River on the historic vehicle ferry to visit the Limeburners Creek Nature Reserve where you can spend the day swimming, bushwalking and wildlife watching.
