Myrtleford is situated in the heart of the Ovens Valley, in northeast Victoria, at the confluence of the Ovens and Buffalo rivers. Myrtleford was once the centre of Australia's major tobacco growing region.
Today winegrapes, hops, nuts and berries are grown in the region. Myrtleford is often described as the gateway to Victoria's Alpine High Country. It is 70 kilometres south of Albury-Wodonga and 274 kilometres northeast of Melbourne.
