Echuca is a border town in Victoria on the banks of the Murray River and Campaspe River and close to the junction with the Murray River. Its position at the closest point of the Murray to Melbourne contributed to its development as a thriving river port city during the 19th century. The port is home to the largest paddle steamer collection in the world, which includes the world's oldest operating wooden hulled paddle steamer, the PS Adelaide built in 1866.
Activities include fishing, swimming, canoeing or water-skiing. Echuca has a horse racing club, which schedules around twelve race meetings a year. Echuca also has a Harness Racing Club. Golfers play at the Echuca Back Nine Golf Course. For nature lovers, the area includes magnificent red gum forests & wetlands.
Great climate all year round - and don't miss the Riverboats, Jazz, Food and Wine Festival!
